You will create a single source of truth with three simple, flexible, interoperating models of your product strategy & business plan, execution capability, and project roadmap (including Kanban boards for user stories, tasks, defects).

  • Go-to-Market Strategy Phase: Milestone driven Activities
  • Agile/Lean Implementation: ROI driven metrics for Agility, Quality, and “Definition of DONE” for User Stories/Activities, and grades for monthly strategic Plans.

You will also implement this model in ThoughtWorks Mingle, a FREE commercial Agile Product/Project management tool for teams of 5 users or less. (Or if you prefer another tool with similar capabilities, you can choose to map it on your own.)

The final payoff is when you map  4WeekStartup model of your product/startup to a detailed, month-by-month Operational Plan spreadsheet that you will use to manage your monthly burn rate effectively and summarize your funding needs and "use of proceeds" with investors.

Murali Krishna Devarakonda is the founder of Agile Entrepreneurs and a startup coach.
